Ocun Ozone Climbing Shoe

The Ozone is a great value, comfortable performance shoe featuring the innovative 3-Force system.

The Ozone are that rarest of beasts, a comfortable performance shoe that feel good straight out of the box. They are ideal for boulderers and sport climbers as well as agraphobic cellar dwellers.

From all of us having tried them on, we would recommend going a size down from street shoe for a snug performance fit. These are the regular version of the ozone shoe, which suits an average foot shape (not overly narrow nor wide).

They need to be tried on to appreciate just how nice the toebox is shaped and would suit people who are used to a Scarpa fit.

Ocun Ozone Climbing Shoe Features & Specifications:

STAFF REVIEW - Jack

Being a big fan of La Sportiva and Scarpa Rock Shoes I wasn't really sure what to expect when trying these out, and all I can say is that I haven't been disappointed!

Size-wise I am a UK9 in regular trainers/approach shoes etc. I have a regular width foot, low volume arch, and longish toes. For me this makes fitting in velcros and slippers a little harder to find a good fit, and have often gone for classic lace ups, such as a Miura Lace or Testarossa. The only slippers I have really got on with have been the Scarpa Instinct slipper in a size 42 (8uk) and I love my Scarpa Vapour Velcro (Older Style size 42).

To start, the fact that they make these shoes in two different widths is awesome, the fit from the box for me was brilliant and remarkably comfortable for a technical fitting shoe which I have only had to go down one uk size (I wear a size UK8 in these Ozone's). Both myself and Rich were given the different models to test out and have tested them out more than we expected both indoors and on the odd occasion, rare dry days outside (Rich winning the battle of getting outside by fleeing to Fontainbleau for a week of dry weather....b@$%ard!).

Having worn many shoes with the Vibram XS Grip over the years (La Sportiva and Scarpa used this version for years and it was very popular) I am very happy with the rubber performance and would rate it just as good as the newer vibram rubber (EDGE and XS Grip 2).

Downsides. I don't really have much to complain about here..... As someone who has mainly worn leather rock shoes, i have found my sweaty feet (probably from excessive training indoors due to the recent foul weather in Wales this winter) do not mix well with synthetic materials which has meant that it made sense to purchase a set of boot banana's before the stench took hold. In all fairness they have done the trick!

Upsides. As they are made with synthetic materials the stretch is pretty minimal making them easy to fit, meaning they have moulded to my feet nicely without stretching excessively, and they are are a bargain for £80! To add to that, the fit is great and much like Rich has said in his review, the tension band on this shoe really does keep the heel on for all heel hooks. The toe hooking in these is also great with a fair bit of rubber covering the key areas.

Overall it is great all round technical shoe for those wanting a technical soft rock shoe that wont break your bank balance.

Please see my pictures for the general wear after 3 months use mainly training indoors 3-4 times a week.
