Grivel Candela

The Grivel Candela is primarily designed to remove the ice core frozen inside ice screws. It also has a fold-out hook (gloves off - boo) for setting up an Abalakov* thread and a blade to chop tat for the thread or for the disposal of pesky climbing partners.

It can be clipped to your harness or it will fit inside a 20+cm ice screw for carrying (The latter method is recommended.. blade serrated and semi-exposed).

* What the * is an Abalakov Thread??
It is (in brief!) when a long (20+cm) ice screw is used to drill two connecting holes into the ice in a V-shape. Tat is then threaded through, knotted, and generally abseiled off (after extensive checking and backing-up obviously).
