TradFest 2017 Weekend Ticket
Tradfest is an annual event celebrating traditional rock climbing in Snowdonia. It is based in the village of Nant Peris at the foot of the Llanberis Pass, one of the most iconic areas in Britain for rock climbing. This year's event will be held from Friday June 9th to Sunday June 11th, with tickets costing £35.
For insurance purposes we can only allow people to the event that have 3rd party insurance cover. Being a member of the BMC, CC or a BMC affiliate club means you are covered BUT WE DO NEED TO SEE PROOF OF THIS MEMBERSHIP! Failure to provide proof will mean we are unable to allow you on to the site. This is a question of insurance and is, unfortunately, non-negotiable.
Tickets can be bought here up until Friday the 9th of June. After this, if there are any tickets left they will only be available at the marquee on site in Nant Peris.
We don't send any physical tickets out so please don't panic, the tickets will be collectable on the weekend from the marquee from friday.
On arrival and once proof of your insurance cover has been provided, you will be issued with a wrist band which must be worn for the duration of the weekend as it gives you access to all areas and is your ticket for the weekend. This gives you all of the following:
- A limited edition 2017 Tradfest Tee Shirt
- A limited edition 2017 Tradfest DMM item
- A guidebook
- A 20% discount off RRP on hardwear at V12 Outdoor for the duration of the weekend
- A 30% discount on clothing at V12 Outdoor for the duration of the weekend
- Access to the Friday night quiz
- Access to the Friday night talk
- Access to test kit from DMM
- Access to test shoes from Scarpa
- Access to test shoes from La Sportiva
- Access to workshops run by the BMC
- Access to the Saturday night talk
- A food ticket for Saturday night
- A drinks ticket for Saturday night
The ticket price DOES NOT include the cost of camping. This is because many people choose to stay in climbing huts or other accommodation. If you are camping then you can pay for this separately at the campsite on the weekend, the cost is £5 per person per night. There are showers and all the other usual facilities available on site.
There will be an itinerary posted at the marquee (in Nant Peris) for information purposes, this is for indication and help only, and due to the famous 'relaxed' nature of the event is subject to change.. and disruption.
What is TradFest?
TradFest was the brainchild of DMM and was first held in 2005 and then in 2014 a collaboration between V12 and DMM brought forward the format that we have today. With the help of other like minded companies it has become the Trad climbing festival. Held just up the road from the DMM factory and from the V12 Outdoor store, it is the perfect location to showcase some of the best trad climbing that can be had in Britain. We're set up at the campsite opposite the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris where we lay claim to a field. A big field. There's a tent and a table next to the BBQ. It really is a thing to behold. The marquee acts as the festival hub for the whole weekend.
The ticket price includes a goody bag which will have a limited edition Tradfest Tee, limited edition Tradfest DMM item, a guidebook, a discount voucher for the weekend at V12 Outdoor, a food ticket for Saturday night, a beer voucher, access to all talks and test equipment plus some other goodies to boot! The ticket price does not include the cost of your camping, this is paid separately, directly to the campsite during your stay.
Things start to happen on the Friday evening, when folk start rolling in for the wild weekend ahead. There is a quiz to kick things off followed by a talk around 10ish. Due to the fact that some people don't arrive until later, or on the Saturday, this turns into quite a special affair and has developed a reputation for being the talk to try and see due to it's inspiratorial nature.
Saturday morning sees breakfast bacon and egg baps (not included in the ticket costs) followed by test gear being handed out to those that wish to try it. DMM will have test gear available and their staff and sponsored climbers will be around to answer any questions you may have. Scarpa and La Sportiva will have a bunch of test shoes for you to try. The BMC will be on hand to offer help and advice and V12 will be offering a discount to all TradFest ticket holders for the weekend of the festival. Saturday is then yours to do with as you wish, there will be plenty of people around to offer help and advice as to where to go and the possibilities of what to do.
A Saturday evening barbeque is included with the ticket price followed by the headline talk of the weekend. Served along with a free drink to whet your whistle! By this time you'll be ready for bed, and then it's the same format for Sunday but with a gear return and finish time around 6pm before you head home after a great weekend; also non-negotiable!
Tradfest is renowned for it's relaxed atmosphere and easy going nature, but unfortunately, there is one area where we cannot apply this same ethos! For insurance purposes you have to have valid 3rd party insurance cover. Being a member of the BMC, the CC or a BMC affiliate club means you are covered BUT WE DO NEED TO SEE PROOF OF THIS MEMBERSHIP. Otherwise we are unable to allow you on to the site. This is a question of insurance and is, unfortunately, not negotiable.
It may seem like we are repeating ourselves but ensuring you're all free to enjoy your weekends is our top priority!
