TradFest 2019 Ticket

17th - 19th May

For insurance purposes we can only allow people to the event that have 3rd party insurance cover. Being a member of the BMC, CC or a BMC affiliate club means you are covered BUT WE DO NEED TO SEE PROOF OF THIS MEMBERSHIP, otherwise we are unable to allow you on to the site. This is a question of insurance and is non-negotiable.

You will need to bring proof of your valid insurance or BMC membership to the event, PLEASE DO NOT FORGET IT. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROOF OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE SITE. THIS IS NOT A POINT WE CAN MOVE ON. It may seem like we are over-egging this but we would hate to have your weekend ruined by something so simple!

Tickets can be bought online at V12 Outdoor, or in the store in Llanberis up until Friday the 10th of May. After this, if there are any tickets left they will only be available at the marquee on site in Nant Peris.

On arrival and once proof of your insurance cover has been provided (yes, I'm still hammering that message home), you will be issued with a wristband which must be worn for the duration of the weekend as it gives you access to all areas and is your ticket for the weekend. This gives you all of the following:

  • A commemorative 2019 Tradfest Tee designed by DMM and made by Dewerstone
  • A limited edition 2019 Tradfest DMM carabiner
  • A 20% discount off RRP on hardware at V12 Outdoor for the duration of the weekend
  • A 20% discount on casual clothing at V12 Outdoor for the duration of the weekend
  • A 30% discount on technical clothing at V12 Outdoor for the duration of the weekend
  • Access to the Friday night entertainment
  • Access to test kit from DMM
  • Access to test kit from Montane
  • Access to test shoes from Tenaya
  • Access to workshops run by the AMI
  • Access to workshops from Llanberis Mountain Rescue
  • Access to the Saturday night entertainment
  • Access to a yoga class with Nalini yoga
  • A food ticket for Saturday night
  • A drink ticket for Saturday night

The ticket price DOES NOT include the cost of camping. This is because many people choose to stay in climbing huts or other accommodation. If you are camping then you can pay for this separately at the campsite on the weekend, the cost is £6 per person per night. There are showers and all the other usual facilities available on site.

There will be an itinerary posted at the marquee for information purposes, this is for indication and help only, and due to the famous relaxed nature of the event is subject to change.

More on Tradfest

Tradfest originated from an idea by DMM and was first held in 2005, then in 2014 V12 and DMM collaborated to bring you the format that we have today.

With the help of other like minded companies it has become the festival to go to as far as trad climbing is concerned. Held just up the road from the DMM factory and from V12 Outdoor's retail premises, it is the perfect location to showcase some of the best trad climbing that can be had in Britain. We're set up at the campsite opposite the Vaynol Arms Pub in Nant Peris where we take over one of the fields. Here you will find a large marquee which is the base for all the activities of the weekend.

The ticket price includes a goody bag which will have a limited edition Tradfest T shirt, limited edition Tradfest DMM item, a guidebook, a discount voucher for the weekend at V12 Outdoor, a food ticket for Saturday night, a beer voucher, access to all talks and test equipment plus some other goodies to boot! The ticket price does not include the cost of camping, this is paid separately, directly to the campsite during your stay.

Things start to happen on the Friday evening, when people begin to turn up for the weekend ahead. There is a quiz to kick things off followed by a talk around 10ish from an, as yet, undisclosed Montane athlete. Due to the fact that some people don't arrive until later, or on the Saturday, this turns into quite a special affair and has developed a reputation for being the talk to try and see due to it's conspiratorial nature!

Saturday morning sees breakfast available in the form of bacon and egg baps (not included in the ticket costs) followed by test gear being handed out to those that wish to try it. DMM will have test gear available and their staff and sponsored climbers will be around to answer any questions you may have. The BMC will be on hand to offer help and advice and V12 will be offering a discount to all Tradfest ticket holders for the weekend of the festival. Saturday is then yours to do with as you wish, there will be plenty of people around to offer help and advice of where to go and the possibilities of what to do.

Saturday evening kicks off with dinner provided as part of your ticket cost with a showing of the film Brazilian Line followed by the headline talk of the weekend; this year the talk is from Ben Bansbury. Served along with a free drink to whet your whistle! By this time you'll be ready for bed, and then it's the same format for Sunday but for a climbing focused yoga class with Ella from Nalini Yoga at 10:30am. Another day of cragging is available with all demo kit to be returned to the marquee by 18:00 before you head home after a great weekend.

Tradfest is renowned for it's relaxed atmosphere and easy going nature, but unfortunately, there is one area where we cannot apply this same ethos! For insurance purposes you have to have valid 3rd party insurance cover. Being a member of the BMC, the CC or a BMC affiliate club means you are covered BUT WE DO NEED TO SEE PROOF OF THIS MEMBERSHIP. Otherwise we are unable to allow you on to the site. This is a question of insurance and is, unfortunately, not negotiable.
