Quick Overview

Scarpa Vapour Lace

Scarpa Vapour is one of their 2010 models coming in a Velcro or Lace up version. Previous to the Vapour shoes, it seemed that Scarpa had been missing the boat with a rock climbing shoe that didn't make your eyes smart when thinking about putting it on. Well the Vapour is the tissue that will dry those tears and bring a smile to your lips.

OK it's still asymmetric and it has a toe down shape to it, but it is subtle and it doesn't make you want to cry. The look of the shoe is sharp and edging towards Italian in styling. It has a new 'slingshot-power' system that Scarpa have patented, this keeps the area under the toes in constant torsion with the heel allowing the shoe to keep its shape.

This is Scarpa's all round top end model and it is comfortable on the foot but it has that precision fit where everything is in balance and the tightness is all in the right places. This being the lace up model it has a speed lacing system, which presumably affords you more time on the rock than doing your shoes up! It has a comfortable mesh tongue and although it is unlined (Suede and Lorica uppers) you shouldn't experience much stretch as the rand system won't allow much.

The sole unit is a 4mm Vibram XS Edge unit. Vibram XSEdge is, you guessed it EDGY like prince in the late 80's. Get these suckers on some slate!
