Quick Overview

Scarpa Epic Approach Shoe

When I was told we couldn't get the Scarpa Zen Pro in anymore I had to have a little lie down. Such a well-built and popular shoe no longer taking pride of place on our wall seemed madness. What possible improvements could they make to that corner of the footwear market I pondered? Ludicrous. Nothing, I thought. Thankfully I was wrong.. very wrong! The Epic is well deserving of its namesake and in more appeasing colours than the old Zen Pros I'm expecting them to be a firm favourite for many people needing new approach shoes this summer.

A shoe conceived and designed for approach and trekking; light and high performance Scarpa have done it again with the all new Epic! The tapered shape, together with the typical lacing-up-to-the-toe found on climbing shoes, give maximum precision, even on the smallest footholds. The water-resistant upper suede, incorporating Sock-Fit DVL by SCARPA® construction system, and stretch textile + 37.5 by Cocona® lining, is breathable and fast-drying. The side of the upper has a new thermo-embossed exoskeleton that provides more lateral support than conventional suede. The Etilas outsole by Vibram®, in Megagrip compound, ensures maximum performance on all types of terrain, from rock to forest trails.
