One Man's Everest by Kenton Cool
Keen on plodding up snowy mountains to avoid hard moves?
In this epic tale of bleeding a mountain dry, Kenton shares his thoughts on champagne foam parties aboard his Monaco based yaught and also warns of the dangers of creating tourism honeypots and the strain it places upon the local communities and fragile wilderness areas.
Cool with a K.
Really though... It's quite impressive how one man can spend so much time operating up above 8000m. His single push ascent of the Everest triple crown was a fine achievement where along with his Sherpa partner Dorje Gylgen, they climbed Nuptse, Everest and Lhotse in 120 hours, gaining and losing 10 vertical km in the process. Kenton lost 2 stone in weight during this incredible feat of endurance. This was the first time anyone had done the whole Everest horseshoe in a single push.
His comeback from a climbing accident that involved a serious double heel break to being one of Britain's foremost Alpinists is a sign of his impressive will power and perseverance. He has been seen by many at the end of an arduous day, moving about on hands and knees to take the weight off his permanently damaged feet.
