After about an hour, and endless different makes and models, these were producedby the guy in Llanberis (sorry, can't rember your name) in an effort to meet my requirement for some all day carpet slippers I can climb E1 in (and I don't climb that very often) . Just like my old, discontinued 5.10's in fact (the ones with the cusioned, treaded heel) . A bit of walking around, I overcame indecision and walked out the shop with them, having run out of options.
So what are they like. Well, first time out I wore them all day and ticked an E1 at Goblin Combe. Soft touch but I'm not complaining. They felt good.
An evening at Symonds Yat followed by a day trip to tick Moonraker and I'm convinced. They are a bit smaller than the 5.10's so a bit better fit but still comfy and precise enough for me - I could get sqeeze on a half size smaller though, perhaps I should.
They also seem better made than the 5.10's with better finished uppers.
So I have bought another pair for when these wear out.
