Petzl Nao Headtorch. Wow. What else can you say, we had one of these on test for over 2 months and it has to be said that this is probably going to change headtorch design forever! There is just so much to be said about this torch but you will be able to see that in our test shortly, in the meantime here are the standard details.

The rechargeable NAO headlamp adapts its two high power LEDs instantly and automatically to the lighting needs for greater comfort, fewer manual interventions and longer battery life. NAO is the first Petzl headlamp with REACTIVE LIGHTING technology.

REACTIVE LIGHTING technology represents true innovation and is the Petzl solution which harmonises lighting power and duration.

In self-adjusting REACTIVE LIGHTING mode, the light adapts instantly and automatically: full power for distance vision, medium power for moving around, or low power for proximity lighting. This mode optimizes battery use and therefore increases the burn time of the headlamp.

NAO has two lighting modes:
- REACTIVE LIGHTING mode,
- constant lighting mode.

Optional belt kit for NAO allows the rechargeable battery to be moved to the belt to reduce the weight worn on the head, or to keep it warm in winter.

It also has the ability to take 2 AAA batteries should you not have a backup battery with you.

To make the most of the Nao you can program upto 5 seperate preset lighting scenarios using the free Petzl software and simply upload yours to the unit. In this way you can limit its top end lumen rate as well as bottom end. So you could say that you don't wish it to have more than 250 lumens and no less than 100.

Customize the NAO headlamp
The OS by Petzl software allows the user to maximize the NAO's potential. Thanks to customized performance, the headlamp's lighting power, burn time and distance can be adjusted. The user may choose from a range of pre-configured activity profiles (trail running, mountaineering, etc.)
For more versatility, personal profiles may also be created according to the user's specific needs. Once the profiles are loaded into the NAO, they are easily accessed at any time.
